Skybrine SafeWork
Safety, fraud and the rules that cannot be negotiated.
A platform that invites people with few options to look for work has a duty to be difficult for anyone intending to exploit them. These rules exist for that reason.
The rules
Nobody pays to work
Skybrine does not charge a person to register, to apply or to be considered for work, and no business may ask a worker for a registration fee, deposit, security amount, training fee or any payment as a condition of obtaining work. Any such request is fraud and the posting is removed.
No hidden recruitment charges
What the worker will be paid, on what basis and by when must be stated in the posting. A requirement that is not clear about money is not circulated.
Never share a credential
Skybrine will never ask for a bank password, a card PIN or a one-time passcode. Nobody legitimate ever will. Any message requesting one is fraud, whoever it appears to come from.
Adults only
Skybrine Work is open to people aged 18 and over. Age is confirmed at registration and any posting seeking to engage a child is removed and reported.
No forced or coerced work
Retention of identity documents, restriction of movement, debt bondage, withheld wages and any form of coercion are grounds for immediate removal and, where appropriate, referral to the authorities.
Lawful work only
Work that is unlawful in the place it is performed is not permitted, regardless of who is offering it.
Contact stays on the platform until work is accepted
A worker’s phone number, email and home address are not disclosed to a business before that worker has accepted a specific engagement.
Higher-risk postings are reviewed by a person
Home-based work, work involving relocation, work requiring a worker to purchase materials or equipment, and unusually high advertised pay are reviewed manually before they are circulated.
Anything can be reported
Every profile, posting and message carries a report control. Reports are read by a person.
Home-based work is reviewed by a person
Home-based work is the most valuable category on this platform for people who cannot travel, and the most exploited category everywhere else. Every home-based posting is reviewed against these questions before it is circulated.
- Is the business identity verified, and who is the named person behind the posting?
- What exactly is the material, and is any part of it hazardous, restricted or perishable?
- What exactly is the task, and can it be completed in a home safely?
- How is payment calculated, and when is it paid?
- Who transports the material, and who bears the loss if it is damaged?
- Is any deposit, security amount or advance payment requested from the worker? (If yes, the posting is refused.)
- Is the worker required to buy equipment, materials or a kit? (If yes, the posting is refused unless the business supplies them or reimburses in advance.)
- Is the compensation stated clearly and is it lawful for the place of work?
- Are there unusual recruitment conditions — urgency, secrecy, a request to communicate off-platform, or a demand to travel immediately?
If somebody asks you for money
It is fraud. Do not pay. It does not matter how convincing the message is, whose name is on it, or how urgent it sounds.
- Skybrine never charges a person to register, apply or be considered for work.
- Skybrine will never ask for a bank password, a card PIN or a one-time passcode.
- Skybrine will never ask you to pay a deposit to receive materials, a fee to release wages, or a security amount for equipment.
- Skybrine will never ask you to move the conversation off the platform in order to receive work.
Report it through the contact form, selecting Reporting misuse of the Skybrine name. Reports are read by a person. If money has already been taken, report it to your local police as well — Skybrine cannot recover funds.
Risk signals the platform is being designed to detect
In development — Phase 2. Detection assists a human reviewer; it does not decide anything on its own.
- A new business posting unusually high-value work
- Compensation far above the going rate for the task
- Any request for a worker deposit or purchase
- An immediate attempt to move off-platform
- Repeated disputes involving the same party
- Multiple accounts sharing an identity or device
- Documents that fail provider checks
- Unusual login or access patterns
- Repeated reports from different workers
- Postings that avoid stating what the work actually is
Automated systems may flag risk. They will not be permitted to make an irreversible decision about a person — suspension, revocation or removal is reviewed and recorded by a named human reviewer with a stated reason and a route of appeal.
This page describes how Skybrine Work will operate. The platform is not live yet, so nothing here is protecting anyone today — which is exactly why it is published now rather than written afterwards. The binding version forms part of the Skybrine Work terms.
